The Social Networks of Grand Rapids

Below you will find a sortable map and table meant to add a spatial element to the Grand Rapids water scandal. I focus here on politics, specifically the aldermen in office at the time of the beginning of the water scandal (1900-1902), to demonstrate the bipartisan nature of the water scandal's bribery scheme and the importance of space.

To learn more about the map, which was created with MIT's SIMILE tool Exhibit, and the sources behind this visualization, visit the Overview of the visuzliations. I have also created a database of where these men are featured in this project.
